We pulled Meagan aside from her daily duties for a moment to ask her 3 questions on the spot. During recovery, we feel it is important that the people you work with have been through the experience themselves. After going through recovery and becoming a LPN for Alpine Springs, Meagan has been a key asset in the success of our detox program as lead nurse.
Q: What makes Alpine Springs different from other Rehabilitation Facilities?
A: For Alpine Springs, we have very individualized treatment. Depending on what you’re coming in for, there are different options that we can work with. Also, its not solely based around 12 steps, which I know works for a lot of people, but there are a lot of people that also don’t want to work with that. So we can definitely make accomodations to make your treatment work for you.
Q: What is Recovery in your own words?
A: Recovery in my own words is pretty much anything that helps you get to where you want to be. What I tell a lot of people is there’s more than one way to get into Disney World. So recovery for some people is getting on something like medically assisted treatment like Vivitrol or Suboxone, and thats fine for some people; other people are not a fan of that. So whatever helps you stay clean in your version of that, would be recovery.
Q: What made you get into Recovery?
A: I have my own past issues in Recovery and being able to help others with the same issues was important to me because in my experience, there are a lot of people who do try and help in this field, but for me personally, it meant a lot more when there was somebody who had been through the experience before.
